TONIGHT could see Tamsin Vaughan's future change beyond recognition - and the 23-year-old Pop Idol wannabe has urged the people of Worcestershire to help make her dream come true.

Tamsin, originally from Pershore, will tonight be fighting for a place in the final 10 of the ITV television singing competition Pop Idol.

She is hoping her rendition of Bonnie Tyler's hit Holding Out For A Hero will impress the county's population so much that they will pick up the phone and vote for her, giving her the ultimate chance to win a record deal.

Tamsin, a former pupil at the Harlequin Stage School, in Worcester, said: "I have been bowled over by the support I have received from all my family and friends in Worcester.

"People have been tracking me down on the Friends Reunited website to send me messages of support and my mum has distributed over 30,000 flyers in pubs, clubs and shops all over the city to try and get people to vote for me.

"I am overwhelmed and I would say please, please, get behind me - I can't do this without your help.

"I am going to sing my socks off but at the end of the day it's your votes that count, so I would urge you to pick up the phone and get voting."

Tamsin, who describes herself as being "sincere, grounded and ambitious," is no stranger to the world of music, having moved to London at the age of 18 in search of the bright lights of fame and fortune.

She has appeared in a string of hit West End musicals, including Mama Mia, West Side Story, and Boy George's Taboo.

"I was born to sing," says Tamsin, who is also a professional dancer.

"If this doesn't work out for me, I'm sure something will come of it.

"I would love to get down to the last five, but I'm not arrogant and I don't expect to win."

She thinks she would make a perfect Pop Idol, saying: "I can't see me turning into a demanding diva, forgetting where I've come from.

"You get pop stars who moan about their job but it's a living dream for me."

Tamsin will sing on ITV's Pop Idol at 7.05pm tonight.

She will find out if she has won later in the evening, on the follow-up programme Pop Idol Result at 9.05pm.
