A MUSICAL tale of grisly deaths at a convent comes to Upton Memorial Hall next week.
Nunsense is the darkly comic tale of a group of American nuns in Hoboken, New Jersey.
One day, 52 of them acciden-tally die of botulism, which forms the basis for the Pepperpot Players to tell their tale.
A few of the sisters were off playing bingo and were spared. They start a fundraising scheme for the funerals of their fallen sisters, but one miscalculation and they only have enough to bury 48 of the group.
And so, a talent show is organised to raise the extra cash needed.
Director Maggie Taylor said Dan Goggin's show had been chosen because it is "hilariously funny".
"It's got rousing songs and a god old gospel number. The cast have enjoyed it, very much so," she said.
"We've had a good old laugh throughout, it's been really fantastic fun to do. We've all gelled together and I'm sure that comes across on stage."
The all-female cast of eight will perform Nunsense at Upton Memorial Hall at 7.30pm from Thursday to Saturday, October 16 to 18.
Tickets are £4, available from PS Presents in Old Street.
