IT appears I owe Mike Foster MP for Worcester an apology (You Say, Friday, October 3), for assuming he was not in attendance at the meeting for funding of Worcestershire schools.

The only daily newspaper I take is the Evening News and it was unfortunate for me in that evening's article there was no mention of Mr Foster's contribution to the proceedings.

I herewith without restraint offer him my sincere apologies and shall in future check my facts first.

PETER ALCOCK,

Upton Snodsbury.

n I DON'T understand our Bishop. Instead of going on about politics (Evening News, Wednesday, October 1) surely his fortnightly column is an ideal opportunity to give us a bit of lay-person's theology for the great unchurched out there - a sort of "thought for the fortnight."

I do hope he won't excommunicate me for saying this.

GEORGE COWLEY,

Warndon,

Worcester.

n REDUCING the scrutiny committees to just one on Worcester City Council is an attempt to stifle democracy.

It prevents all other elected representatives on the city council from having a say in matters of importance to the people who elected them.

JOY TURNER,

Worcester.
