Until I saw another reader's letter about the sad loss of Ken Harker, I was not sure whether it was the same person that we had known.

My son is autistic and some years ago became extremely depressed. Mr Harker, in his healing capacity, was the only person whom my son would willingly see. He was kind and caring, with a presence that brought a sense of calm and hope for the future.

My son eventually had to go to Lea Castle Hospital because there were no facilities here. Ken Harker came to our home every Christmas with a gift and a card for him and continued to do absent healing for some time.

My autistic son is extremely perceptive and can sense when something is wrong with someone he cares for.

In the last few months he has been most anxious and upset, with no-one knowing why. I believe he sensed that his good friend Mr Harker was unwell.

Ken Harker was the kind of person who leaves the world a better place, making our journey through life altogether richer, and for some, more bearable.
