I notice in the Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter (September 28) that Ledbury Town Council found it wise and proper to give a grant of £400 towards a young girl's dancing costs.
While I can understand the girl and her family seeking financial support, I find it extremely disappointing that the council agreed with it.
There are numerous groups which support many children through activities which could have done a lot of good work with quite a few children for that sum of money.
Letters in the Malvern Gazette are for ever criticising the behaviour of children, so why are we not supporting them more in constructive activates? Where I live there is not even an open space where the children are allowed to play ball games.
I am aware the councils give grants to local groups and have advertised in the Gazette but they should be more proactive in seeking groups who feel they are disadvantaged.
