YOUR feature on the Elgar-thon last Friday (October 3), mentions the Wyche Primary School.
Elgar's Land of Hope and Glory was completed nearby at Craig Lea and, wishing to hear how the words by A C Benson would sound with his music, he is believed to have persuaded the headmaster of the Wyche School to allow the choir to sing it for the other children and staff.
This was first time our 'second National Anthem' was ever sung in public.
