A PUPIL at Bredon School, near Upton, is preparing to tackle the London Marathon to raise money for dyslexia awareness.

Ben Coupe, aged 18, chose last week's national Dyslexia Awareness Week to start training for next April's event.

Ben is dyslexic himself and hopes to raise £1,500 for the Dyslexia Institute.

"Not everyone gets the help I do so I think it's important to raise awareness and raise money," he said. "My teachers have been really helpful. They're giving me a lot of support and finding out about local races such as half-marathons so I can get some experience before I tackle the London Marathon itself."

Ben has drawn up a training programme built around the sport he already does.

"It's good in a way because one of my main interests is rugby, so the training for that gives me a basic level of fitness. In addition to that I'm fitting in three or four mile runs about three times a week, and will gradually build that up," he said.
