The Conquest Players romped though this comedy of relationships, many showing an admirable lack of embarrassment at being seen in their underwear on stage.
Set in a small flat in London, the play's action focuses on Gregory, a repressed amateur astronomer whose plans to study the eclipse are scuppered by the arrival of Lyra, a magical sylph from that constellation.
A pacey plot with love potions, hardened criminals and a lot of innuendo follows before Lyra finally manages to fix Gregory's relationship with his girlfriend Veronica.
Dave Thompson portrays geeky Gregory with aplomb, looking suitably scared of the advances of the sylph Lyra. Playing Lyra, Ann Smith amused the audience with her display of brash sexuality.
Mention must also be made of Mike Cresswell, who was amusing as loopy electrician Ganymede Prout.
Members of the audience loved the action-packed plot, with a joke a minute, and the theatre was filled with laughter.
