AN energetic pop punk band by the name of Lukash, pictured right, will be playing their new material at Worcester's Marr's Bar, tomorrow.

The band decided that their friend Jason Lukach, a tattooist in Chicago, America, had such a cool name that they called themselves after him.

The band's singer and guitarist Lewis recently played a set of acoustic gigs in Chicago when he went over to visit Jason.

"He tattooed my arm three years ago, " said Lewis. "It has lots of interesting Japanese swirls and dragons on it.

"I went over to Chicago on holiday for two weeks in August and did some acoustic gigs over there.

"They were brilliant.

"It was great being an English man playing English songs in America.

"People are still e-mailing me about it and I have made quite a few contacts over there."

The band have recently recorded a CD which is currently untitled.

It has three new tracks and one old acoustic song.

"The main song, which will most likely be the single, is Writing For The Radio," said Lewis.

"We are in talks with a publishing company at the moment and they want to hear some thing of radio quality, so that's where the idea came from."

The rest of the band consist of Joe Singh on drums and Adam Hood on bass and backing vocals.

Lewis said he hopes the band will make him a full-time living one day.

"I don't want to be working nine to five for a living but I do want to be playing 24/7," said Lewis who writes the band's songs.

"People often say that I should be just thinking about doing a day job.

The band, who are based in Worcester, recently created a spectacle live in Gloucester, when Adam stripped down to his pants for a gig.

"He said he would if 200 people came through the door and they did, so he played in his pants!" said Lewis.

If you fancy some more good music at the Marr's Bar within the next week, then catch Waste when they play the Pierpoint Street venue on Thursday.

Waste are a two guy and two girl band that have had plenty of play on The Storm digital radio.

Same Jones, the lead singer and guitar player, is originally from Pershore and his gig at the Marr's Bar will be his first gig back on home territory.
