AN all-star band of great musicians will be taking audiences on a trip down memory lane when they play a selection of music from the heady 1960s.

Ray Dorset, better known to many as Mungo Jerry, will be just one of the big names playing, when the show, British Legends of Rhythm 'n' Blues, comes to Huntingdon Hall, CrownGate, Worcester, on Wednesday.

Ray, best known for the 1970's hit In The Summertime, will be joined by the legendary Long John Baldry and Zoot Money.

"I am sure I have been to Huntingdon Hall before because I have played so many places," said Ray.

"Unfortunately, I cannot remember them all.

"I'm happy to be working with such celebrated musicians on the British Legends tour."

People who come to the gig will be able to buy Ray's new album Adults Only.

Ray's career began at the age of 10 when he began making music on a washboard and tea chest.

"My mother then got me a plastic guitar, then my parents bought me a real guitar," he said.

At the age of 11 he created his first band Blue Moon Skiffle Group.

In 1969, he formed the band which was to become Mungo Jerry.

"In 1972, I was sacked!" he said.

"Two of the members fired me because I was writing all the songs and getting known as Mungo."

Ray, who has been married three times, has six children and spends his time living in Bournemouth and Germany.

His hits also include Baby Jump, Lady Rose and Hello Nadine.
