THE new harvest venture for Upleadon church is to be held on Sunday, October 12. It will begin in St Mary the Virgin parish church at 11.15am with a harvest festival service conducted by Mrs Jessie Williams and the Reverend Patricia Phillips, the rector. After the service there will be a harvest lunch in Upleadon Village Hall at approximately 1pm. Everyone is welcome. Tickets may be purchased from Parochial Church Council members or telephone Mrs Christine Draper on (01531) 820043. Gifts of fruit, vegetables and dry groceries are welcome. Afterwards these will be given to Kathleen House at Newent. On Sunday, October 19 there will be parish communion in Upleadon Church at 9.30am.

Complimentary comments have been received on the provision of a new tarmac footpath across the churchyard from the double gates to the church door. The age-old steps entered from the wooden double gates are still in use. However the new path allows wheelchair access to St Mary's. It is also a great help to people visiting the graves from the church. A great deal of help and support with the new path was received from Hedley Midwinter who has been thanked.

The bi-monthly friendly whist drive takes place in Upleadon Village Hall on Monday, October 27, at 7.30pm. Proceeds are for Upleadon Over 60s Club funds. Make a note of the date now and enjoy an interesting evening. All are welcome.

Breast cancer will benefit from a talk/slide show in Upleadon Village Hall on Thursday, November 13 at 7.30pm. It is entitled Walking the Inca Trail. Now that the darker evenings are here why not make a note of the date, have an enjoyable evening and support a good cause?
