This year there is such an abundance of berries of all kinds that some were added to the beautiful floral arrangement in Staunton Church for the harvest festival service and hops and old man's beard was used in the porch to great effect. On Sunday the harvest hymns were sung in the service conducted by Canon John Evans and joining in to swell the congregation were the family and friends of Anna Elizabeth Dudfield daughter of Jane and James of Staunton who was baptised and welcome din to the family of the church by the whole congregation. The lessons were read by John Luard and the collection taken by Prim Goldring and Audrey Smith. The organist was Margaret Riley, both churchwardens Stan Cotton and Ursula Groves-Smith were in attendance. The PCC had a harvest lunch ready to serve from the belfry, which was very much enjoyed.

On Tuesday morning St James Church was again filled with the sound of singing of both traditional and new harvest hymns when Staunton and Corse Church of England School held their harvest festival service which was arranged by the school and led by Mrs Rosie Miller, head teacher and her staff, Canon Evans conducted the service. Every child in every class took part and all took their gifts of fruit, vegetables, tinned and packet food to the altar to be received by Mrs Margaret Barclay and Mr Archie Templeton, school governors and Ursula Groves-Smith, churchwarden. It will all be taken for the homeless in Gloucester. Margaret Riley was the organist, at what was a joyous service of thanks. The collection was taken by six children and as a result £100.48 will be sent to the Save the Children Fund.
