FORMER senior master at Christopher Whitehead Boys' School Eric Hooper has died aged 75, after a short illness.

Mr Hooper was a teacher at the city school for almost three decades, starting in 1950, and was both head of the music department and senior master during his career.

He was well-known as a Worcester church organist and city choirmaster.

When he finally resigned his position in April 1979, headteacher Dai Davies described him as "a loyal and exceptional colleague".

He spent his final years living in London, and died on Wednesday, September 24.

The funeral service was held in the chapel at Charterhouse, in London, at 2.30pm on Wednesday, and he was interred at Martin Hussingtree, at 11.30am, yesterday.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
