SPORTS EDITOR'S MAILBAG

AS A long-term Harriers supporter through the Conference FA Cup runs and days out to Wembley, now is the only time I feel for Harriers' vulnerability.

The reasons are the comments from club officials who say now is not the time for knee jerk reactions.

Of the last 22 games before Carlisle, we had won three. Surely this is relegation form?

Chairman Colin Youngjohns stated: "Harriers were in a similar position under Jan Molby season in 2001-2002".

But that is where the similarity ends. Jan was building a team of which Kidderminster could be proud and was.

It was also stated Jan was an icon who attracted quality to the club but what now?

Ian Britton says he does not like changing things so is this why he never brings subs on until it is too late even though supporters see the need for change?

Or is it he has no confidence in the players he has brought to the club?

Youngjohns says there is money to strengthen the squad and we need a goal-scoring striker.

Can he, hand on heart, be confident of Britton's judgment in signing the right quality players?

On his past record, this must be doubtful as he has signed players to sit on the bench.

Look at the number of midfielders he has brought in yet we can neither protect the back-three or support the strikers, except for Danny Williams.

As the manager, Britton must accept responsibility for the lack of cohesion and tactics shown by the team he selects.

He cannot blame the players each and every time for his lack of knowledge at this level.

This is not an isolated view but that of the majority of season-ticket holders in the Main Stand.

We have never said Britton was a good manager. He inherited a very good team playing some of the best football in Division Three.

Britton starting to tinker and dismantle the side coincided with the time we went into freefall.

You only have to look to March last season when it all went pear-shaped.

The honeymoon is over now so let's get down to sorting out the future before the hole gets too big.

If that means replacing Britton for the good of the club, then so be it.

Does the board want stay in the Football League? If so, they have some decisions to make.
