THE first final in the Wychavon Parish Games knockout events took place last Friday with the senior table tennis at Littleton village hall.

It proved a close competition with Evesham Central, who won the event in 2000 and 2001, up against Broadway in only their second year in the games.

After the first four games, the teams were tied but Evesham Central then won the next two. Broadway hit back to make it 4-3 before Central won the next two games for a 6-3 triumph.

The winning team consisted of father and son Grahame and Martin Brown and Jonathan Haines, while Broadway were represented by Geoff Clark, Geoff Collings and Paul Witts.

The last of the one-day events is the junior table tennis that will be staged at Bengeworth Church Hall on Sunday, November 9.

The presentation evening will take place at the Hospital Social Club on Friday, November 21.
