A PARTIALLY-SIGHTED boy from Honeybourne raised more than £700 for the Royal National Institute for the Blind by abseiling off a tower and flying through the air on a zip wire.

Andrew Snell, aged 13, suffers from Stargardt's disease and will eventually lose all of his sight.

But on Sunday September 28 he found the courage to take part in the events at Moreton-in-Marsh fire college with his best friend, Scott Wilkes.

While Scott raised more than £200, Andrew raised £735 through sponsorship and was given an X-Box and games donated by Murley's Autos of Stratford for raising the most cash at the event.

Andrew's mother Jayne said: "I was so proud of them both as there is no way I would have even climbed the tower, let alone jumped off the edge."

She said she turned down the offer when the RNIB contacted her about the event but Andrew and Scott were both very keen, and although the pair were nervous leading up to the jump, they both went through with it and felt fantastic afterwards.

Now they are hoping to take part in more fundraising challenges, including a blindfolded driving challenge next year.
