A SOUTH Littleton man is demanding action now his daughter has injured herself on a path he said should have been repaired.

Matt Green, of Withy Trees Road, said he has complained to Worcestershire County Council on numerous occasions about the state of the path outside his house since they moved to the village last Christmas.

He believed it was only a matter of time before somebody got hurt on the path.

On Sunday, his two-year-old daughter Tamisha fell, cutting her top lip and grazing her face.

"We went out for a walk and were only yards down the road when I heard her screams and I turned around and there was blood everywhere. I spent half an hour picking gravel out of her cuts. I'm very angry and very upset," he said.

Mr Green said he has often seen elderly people trip and parents struggling to move pushchairs over the footpath, which he said has potholes and has crumbled to become a gravel track.

He said council officials have been to look at the path but told him that because the holes were less than an inch deep, work was not yet necessary.

"It does make you wonder where your council tax is being spent," he said.

Council spokeswoman Carol Pugh said they have received no formal complaints about the footway, either from residents or the parish council, but have had three telephone calls from one person asking for work to be carried out.

She added that guidelines were in place to justify spending public money and if holes in footways were less than 20mm deep, they were not legally required to carry out any work.

An inspector was due to visit the site this week to look at the footway and determine if work was needed.
