TWO hours before England face South Africa in the Rugby World Cup, local amateurs will lock horns at Avon Street in an Evesham curtain-raiser.

The challenge match on Saturday, October 18 will see an Evesham XV face a South African side made up of Vale workers who turn out for the Sports Club side on a regular basis.

The match is scheduled for an 11am start and there's the promise of a feast of action for the spectators ahead of one of England's most important matches for years.

The club is also staging a ladies open training day at Avon Street from noon on Saturday, November 15 for players aged 18 and over.

Any ladies interested in playing is asked to contact Nikki Evis on 01386 423167.
