DEBUTANT Matt Willis scored with his first touch to round off Stourport's first victory of the North Midlands Two campaign.

The Walshes Meadow side defeated Tenbury 16-10 on Saturday after turning round a half-time deficit.

Despite early Stourport dominance, the visitors charged down an attempted clearance to score an unconverted try in the first period.

But the second half saw a second wind for Stourport with the forwards and backs forcing Tenbury into their own half.

Victor Little took the ball off the line-out and roared through the defence to touch the ball down in the far corner five minutes in.

The conversion was missed but Stourport took complete control with good forward play and defence.

Lee Philps converted two penalties within 10 minutes to put the home side ahead before Willis' introduction from the bench.

He scored a fantastic unconverted try in the corner after a great sequence of play by the backs with around 15 minutes left.

Tenbury hit back with a further unconverted try but Stourport held on for an excellent victory with another debut-making player, Gary Williams, also impressing.

Fixture, Saturday: Birmingham Lions v Stourport.
