I WRITE in response to the letter in the Shuttle/Times and News from Beverley Philpotts and fully support the comments raised.

We have some of the best schools in the county, both in educational standards and status.

I attended the meeting at Wilden All Saints School, and we were advised that parents would have a choice of where to send their children. I would think it will be more of a case of yes, they can choose, but it is more likely in reality they will be told where to go.

Surely it is the dedication of the teachers and the happiness of our children that is the most important consideration to come out of this review.

I, along with a large number of other people, feel Wilden should have a future in providing nursery/infant/junior education.

Some of the main reasons are:

l It is a full and over-subscribed school, popular with parents from Wilden and neighbouring areas.

l Currently a housing development scheme is underway, which will provide nearly 300 new houses in the Wilden area - further increasing local demand for a good quality local school.

l Academic standards are above the national average and the school attracts and retains first-rate, dedicated staff.

l Despite the semi-rural location, the school is easily accessed and recognised as a highly sustainable school.

l Last, but not least, it is the mainstay of the Wilden village community and provides an extended family atmosphere where children thrive as individuals.

We are constantly being told that there are too many cars on the roads. Surely if parents have got to take their children to schools out of their area, this will be adding more congestion onto already busy roads.
