MANAGER Martin Westcott has quit Chaddesley Corbett after 17 years with the village side in various roles.

The hard-working Westcott is seeking a new challenge and has been replaced by Ian Vogel who took charge of the West Midlands League Division One South club for the first time at the weekend.

Westcott's shock resignation, along with his assistant Jeff Elliott, was handed in at a committee meeting last Thursday.

He said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Chaddesley and would like to thank the committee, backroom staff and players for the support they have given me over the years.

"I have been at Chaddesley since 1986 in various capacities but feel that it is the right time for a change. I give my full support to new manager Ian Vogel.

"I'll be looking to get back into football at some point in the near future."

Chairman Dave Yardley said: "The club would like to publicly thank Martin for the effort he has put into the club over the years. We wish him every future success."

New player-boss Vogel is looking to add to the Chaddesley squad and believes they can shoot up the table after winning just one of their first six league games.

They were due to play at high-flying Ludlow Town Reserves last night.

Vogel said: "We have an excellent set of players here and I am convinced that we can quickly move up the league.

"Our priority is to finish in the top six as the league is being restructured next season.

"Hopefully most of the lads will stay with the club and I am looking to add to the squad too. I have a few players in mind and will be talking to them shortly."
