BOWLING: Last season's bottom-of-the-table strugglers Dire Straits opened the new Gilt Edge Short Mat League campaign with a 17-15 win over Just For Fun.
They took a convincing first half 12-6 and held on to lift themselves off the basement after three games.
The Telly Tubbies started off like a train in their first two fixtures with four hot-shot sixes but then fell apart 20-13 against a competent Blakedown side.
Tubbies won the first half 8-5 but eventually dropped off the top of the division where they are replaced by Brintons A who defeated Stourport and Squirrel.
The Invincibles surrendered their first points against Wribbenhall after taking the first half 15-5 but losing the second on the last end.
Holders Tornadoes have had a shaky start with one defeat but recovered to thrash Untouchables 33-6.
