VOLLEYBALL: A deserved first National League Division Two victory of the season was clinched by Cleobury Ladies who out-classed rivals Warwick Riga 3-1.

After losing their first two games despite good displays, Cleobury at last triumphed, winning sets by 25-18, 25-20 and 25-18 on their travels.

The visitors were unable to find their blistering attacking form and edged an even first set with Lynsey Rankin, Ellie Boddey and Clare Jones playing key roles.

Warwick responded to equalise by punishing holes in the villagers' block and back-row defence.

Sam O'Connor stepped up her game in the third set to convert repeatedly in the power hitter role.

Cleobury's team spirit helped them collect the fourth as confident passing, blocks and plenty of hitting options left a bewildered Warwick rocking.

In the Men's West Midlands League, Cleobury lost 3-2 to rivals Dudley, including winning an amazing first set 31-29.
