A WORCESTER skate park celebrated its first birthday at the weekend - after what has been a far from smooth ride.
RampAge in Orchard Street was once considered too noisy by neighbours and struggled to get permanent planning permission.
But after police backed the campaign, and thousands of pounds was spent on sound proofing, the venue is now attracting hundreds of youngsters a week.
Owners Chris and Gabrielle Buckland marked the milestone by holding a special competition day on Saturday.
There was a contest for all age groups and plenty of prizes.
"This was a big achievement for us, so we made it a day to remember," said Mrs Buckland.
