A MOTHER has started a petition, after speeding restrictions on her road were excluded from a Safer Routes to School initiative.

Dawn Stewart said the speed bumps, which were placed down the entire length of Tudor Way and Howard Road, in Dines Green, Worcester, in July, would encourage more drivers to bypass those roads and drive down Drake Avenue, where she lives.

When she appeared in the Evening News in the middle of August, she expressed fears for her six-year-old son Ellis, who often plays at the front of the house with his friends.

People are being urged to sign the petitions, which are currently in DG Pharmacy, and The Green Centre, Gresham Road, Dines Green and Dines Green Primary School.

The petitions have been up and running for around two weeks.

City councillor Margaret Layland, who works at DG Pharmacy as a health care assistant said people had begun signing their names.

"We've put the Evening News article next to it in the shop to draw attention to it," she said.

"We've had around 60 signatures so far, but a lot of the people we speak to have signed the petition at Dines Green Primary School."
