DESPITE the best attempts of 12 boats racing last weekend, Ian Haywood landed dual success for the second successive week on an afternoon when mistakes and penalties cost places.
The first race saw John Pickford take a huge lead as he took advantage of the steady breeze from the south.
Being out in front on your own you do have to remember the course and Pickford forgot! By the time he had made good his mistake half the fleet had passed.
From then on Haywood, Green, Middleton and David Way see-sawed backwards and forwards for the lead. Pickford did his best to make up the lost ground but eventually Haywood led Green over the line.
The second race was almost a repeat with Pickford again taking the lead before missing a mark of the course but this time he didn't lose so much ground.
Green led for a while but he had to take a penalty following a collision and that left Pick-ford and Haywood almost side by side with the latter taking top spot at the finish.
