THE visitors to Throck-morton CPSC on Sunday included the Royal Oak Gun Club.

The variety of sporting targets included two stands, which tested the visitors and club members to their limits although Mark Doughty and Stuart Emms rose to the challenge.

Shooting the first card of the day, Doughty returned the top score of 45/50, with Emms missing eight clays to finish with 42/50. John Tarplee completed the leader board with 40/50.

With a much-weakened team, the Royal Oak finished 51 clays adrift -184-133 - leaving the young guns of Throckmorton victors on this occasion. Top Gun for the Royal was Andy Heywood (34/50).

After a slow start, only two maximums were recorded on the Skeet layout. John Arnold and in form Doughty ended the drought both achieving 25/25.

The latter completed the morning a single target adrift on his two-card score returning 49/50.

Jackie Cotton, achieving her highest score at the club, kept the ladies on the leader board with 24/25, while Emms, Tarplee and Brian King missed single targets for 24/25.

On the Down the Line layout, King and Tom Partridge were the pick of the club members scoring 25/25 (71ex75).

It was left to visitor Gary Shaw to top the leader board with 25/25 (72ex75).

Tony Smith is in a rich vein of form and pushed hard to finish on the leader board courtesy of two maximums 25/25 (70 ex75). Adam Barnfield and John Ford both missed a single target for 24/25 (71ex75).

The next home shoot is on Sunday, September 21.
