A NEW website is welcoming views on how up to £1 million of regeneration funding should be spent.

Stourport and surrounding villages including Great Witley, Astley and Hartlebury are in line for the cash over three years and residents can have their say on the most pressing problems as part of the area's "health check".

Comments will be collated by Stourport Town Centre Forum - which represents businesses, councils, the police, voluntary groups and other interests - ahead of a public meeting in November.

Some £500,000 has been awarded from regional development agency Advantage West Midlands and the sum is expected to be matched by other bodies such as British Waterways.

The money is to boost the economy but this definition is flexible and could include environmental or training projects.

"At the end of the day it's down to the forum in consultation with everybody in the town to decide where our priorities lie," said chairman Derek Fradgley.

A consultant will also assess key problems as part of the health check before projects are suggested to Advantage West Midlands next February.

The website is at www.markettowns.org

The date and venue of the public meeting have yet to be confirmed.
