THE Severn Valley Railway is offering passengers the chance to trace their family trees this weekend.

Visitors travelling between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth can learn more about their family history from archives available at both Kidderminster and Arley stations.

The Family History Weekend has been organised by the Severn Valley Railway and the Birmingham and Midland Society for Genealogy and History.

The BMSGH's records cover the counties of Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

There will also be family history organisations representing other counties at Kidderminster station.

Severn Valley Railway's Marketing Manager, John Leach said: "Most people are intrigued by their own family history. We hope the Family History Weekend will provide a springboard for people to discover a lot more about themselves, their roots and their backgrounds."

Other historical records will be available at Arley Station.

Steam trains will also be running during the weekend at 75-minute intervals, starting from Kidderminster at 10.25am.

Admission to the Family History Weekend is by SVR ticket only.
