N TAYLOR writes (You Say, September 5) that one million Irish and 700,000 Europeans living here are to be given voting rights on our euro membership.

I would ask if these people are existing citizens and if not, on whose authority will they be allowed to vote?

In the same paper Philip Bushill-Matthews, MEP, states the only four countries that have not been conned into joining the EU whose employment levels are higher than the EU targets are those which are still using their own currency and not the euro!

A number of writers to this newspaper say Tony Blair took this country by a "landslide" vote. But he only got back into power through ther corrupt first-past-the-post system and the stupidity of those who refused to use their vote. Millions of people in the 20th century died to retain that same vote to allow us to live as a free nation ruling ourselves.

There are letters about the police making profit from speed traps. Just wait until we have the EU police who cannot be dismissed or taken to task over any misdemeanour they may commit. Then you will have something to complain about, if you dare! I also believe our freedom of speech will also be taken from us.

It has been said Mr Blair is hoping to be mentioned in the history books of the future as the first President of the EU.

I will predict he will certainly be remembered as the only PM who sold his country for his own gain.
