AFTER the success of the resurrection of the Avon Championships last year, the event is being staged again this year.

Run by the Redditch Federation of Anglers, the event was so popular last year that it had to be increased in size at the last minute from 100 to 120 anglers.

It is hoped to increase the entry this time around to 150 using venues along river between Stratford and Evesham.

The match will be held on Saturday, October 11 with the draw at 9am and fishing for five hours from 11am.

Tickets are £18 all in - including a £3 peg fee - and are available from Dave Fisher on 01527 450342.

The 29th Ladies Avon Champ-ionships, sponsored by Shakes-peare, will take place on Sunday September 28 that Hampton Ferry.

The draw will take place at Raphaels at 9-30am with fishing for five hours from 11-30am.

Evesham & District Disabled AC & Partnership's

CONTESTING Sunday's first round of the Autumn Trophy, sponsored by the Crown Inn, club members travelled to Loxley where they enjoyed good weather if not a full day's fishing.

Wayne Panting, fishing the tree gap, finished on top with 24.1.0, a net made up of carp, the largest being 4.7.0.

In second place was Frank Lake with carp and roach to 13.3.0 with Rita Barnett (4.8.0) in third with again carp and roach making up the final weight.

Members are reminded that they must contact the secretary asap to book in for Sunday's match at Moorlands.

CARL Jones was in record breaking mood again last weekend.

The Team Coshida ace broke his own record on the Middle Pool last Saturday when he weighed in a cracking 134lbs to surpass the previous best by 11lbs.

It got even better the next day when Jones netted a superb bag of carp and tench to record 140.11 - 29lbs ahead of the previous record catch set by Andy Pollard.

SATURDAY'S Open match at the Fishery exceeded all expectations as all competitors netted excellent weights.

EVESHAM Working Men's Club's A Hammerton bagged the winning weight in Sunday's Tom Pitcher Mem-orial Cup match on Common Road Waters.

The winner caught perch and skimmers to feeder tactics.
