FOOTBALL: Westfields were beaten 1-0 by reigning Midland Alliance champions Stourbridge at Stourport last night.
In an action packed end to end game Westfields matched their illustrious visitors but did not take their chances and paid dearly.
Westfields had the better of the early stages and Mark Hibbard headed just wide, while Roy Jordan had a fierce free kick cleared off the line.
After the break Stourbridge took the lead in the 55th minute when Adam Bastable was given too much time and space on the edge of the penalty area and he drilled a powerful shot into the bottom left hand corner.
Westfields sent on strikers Paul Burton and Chris Jefferson to try and get an equaliser and Jordan twice went close.
Westfields were reduced to 10 men when Scott Jackson was sent off in the 85th minute.
