TWO away wins in the space of five days have catapulted Littleton to second place in Midland Combination Division One.

Last Tuesday, they travelled to Bloxwich Town and, after a frantic game with a host of chances, outlasted a youthful home side to win 3-2.

Littleton took an early lead through Nick Burrows only to trail 2-1. Strikes from Burrows and Simon Brain, though, sealed the points.

There was a frenzied start to Saturday's game at Northfield Town with five goals in the first 20 minutes.

Curtis Major's looping header gave Littleton the lead but this was quickly cancelled out by Robert Ager who, after a run of 50 yards, hit a crisp low drive just inside a post.

A Simon Brain free-kick was then spilled by the home keeper and Danny Harris was reacted quickest to score from close-range. However, Ager again broke and his cross was cleverly converted by Dean Meyrick.

Back came Littleton and two minutes later they were in front again when Darren Reeves converted a penalty.

Littleton's pressure failed to bring the goal to cement their lead and it was the hosts who scored next with Meyrick converting from close-range on the hour.

Although both sides had chances it wasn't until a minute from time that Littleton grabbed the decisive goal when a free-kick from Matthew Edwards was volleyed in from eight yards by the onrushing Stuart Sollis.

Littleton are at home on Saturday to Stockingford in the Challenge Cup, kick-off 2.45pm.

The Pebworth Road are on target to regain a Premier Division place next term when they could join Pershore Town in the top flight.

Nigel Russell's men have made a promising start to the new season but felt that they should have taken all three points from Saturday's visit to Continental Star.

Simon Judge netted in the 1-1 draw, while another point was added to their total on Tuesday following a 3-3 home draw with Castle Vale Kings Heath.
