THROUGH your columns I would like to thank all the event organisers, Commodore Peter Howles, the carnival committee and everybody who played a major part in bringing together this year's Stourport Carnival.
The day was a terrific occasion which ended with a very spectacular firework display.
I am sorry about the tragic accident that occurred on the river later that evening. However, the 20,000 people that arrived to enjoy the festivities were unaware of this until after the event.
Didier Gonzales, the mayor of twin town Villeneuve-le-Roi and his councillors, had a splendid visit and we were delighted by the enthusiasm shown towards our guests by the public.
On behalf of the town council I would like to say thank-you all for your support.
STEPHEN CLEE
Mayor of Stourport
