THE first goal took some time coming but Bewdley Town eventually romped to a 7-0 win over Ledbury Town Reserves.

Paul Edwards, Steve Mares and Keith Elliot were all close to scoring within the first 15 minutes of the West Midlands League Division One South fixture.

Bewdley custodian Mark Foster was not called on to make a save until the 40th minute and the home side took the lead soon after.

Elliot's free-kick was turned in at the far post by Neil Turford two minutes before half-time.

Bewdley nearly added a second when Tom Stewart, on his return to the club, and Mares set up Elliot but he was denied by keeper Dimitri who replaced the injured Ian Hopkins during the game.

Edwards also had a shot saved in the 50th minute and the rebound was blasted over before Elliot put Stewart through on the left a minute later to slot past the keeper.

Pat Moreve turned well to beat his man and cross for Mares to slide home the third moments later.

A short-corner move between Elliot and sub Adam Spencer saw the former cross for Edwards to net a deserved near-post header on 73 minutes.

Edwards scored a fine individual second goal five minutes after before Bewdley added two more in the late stages through Spencer.

He volleyed home from eight yards following a cross by sub Terry Hughes and blasted in another after Edwards challenged the keeper.
