BOWLING: Simon Allen and Stuart McCaughtrie were successful at Chester Road's annual open triples competition on Sunday.
They teamed up with Worcester's Dean Hemmings to triumph in an event featuring 96 bowlers from Worcestershire and Shropshire.
There were many shock defeats in the pursuit of prize money which totalled more than £400.
Hemmings skipped the mixed team in the final against Alfie Needham, Martin Needham and Ray Bourne, from Vines Park, Droitwich.
They won 11-7 following precision bowling from McCaughtrie and Allen.
Special edition trophies were donated by Banks's Breweries as a century gift for the 100-year-old club.
Percy Salmon, Bob Gameson and Arthur Fox finished third after a 11-4 win over Chester Road club-mates John Rowan, Maurice Curtis and Ken Griffin.
Chester Road's centenary finals day will be on Sunday.
