MOTORSPORT: Former banger racer Mick Rogers is the toast of the track after landing the V8 Stock Car Championship of the World.
The Cookley driver, 37, struck gold with a masterful display in the final at Northampton.
Rogers finished well clear of the opposition and admitted: "Everyone seems to go for the world championship so I was delighted.
"There were 10 qualifying rounds all over the country and I got the most points which put me in pole position for the final.
"My next goal is to be national points champion."
Rogers, backed by BW Rogers, David Larkin Transport and Foley Self Drive, is seven points behind Kev Stuchbury in the table with three meetings to go.
He finished fourth in the British Championship meeting at Buxton.
