IT was with great interest that I note that in the opinion of our local councillor the

proposed building adjacent to the village church was a "sensitive planning matter".

This recognition alone should have prompted the councillor into obtaining the opinions of the village people she represents. Her action however of nonattendance at the planning meeting and the total lack of consultation with the people concerned can only be seen as

passive approval.

In defence of both Councillor Sonya Ealey of Cheltenham Road Evesham and Councillor George Bourne of Littleton, who ardently supported the proposed development, their view and enjoyment of our village church should not be too adversely affected.

They say a week in politics is a long time and maybe at the next local elections the people of this parish will have forgotten the matter. Or will they? Even more questions require an answer after reading the reply from Michael Shaw of Monks Walk. It appears that Mr

Shaw had been restricted with conservation orders whilst trying to improve this particular site. The question I would like to ask WDC is who or what has changed to prompt such a reversal of policy in such a short space of time?

Head of planning for Wychavon, Jack Hegarty said: "Each planning application is considered on its own merits. This matter could not have been

dealt with more fully and openly. There was a full committee site visit and a public debate on it at the time before the vote was taken."
