I n support of the letter from Mr K P Icke entitled "Bad Day For Badsey", it's appalling that developments can progress with no regard for local and environmental concerns.

The Local Plan Review aims to preserve open spaces yet this development was approved in the only open space in the centre of the old part of Badsey.

Section 41.3 describing Badsey states, "the spaces make an important contribution to the character of the area, as do buildings.... The Council will, therefore, seek to resist development which threatens to destroy the essential quality and character of the area."

Historically, building outside the building line would not have been allowed, alone approx. 36 metres inside and metres from a 12th century church.

Shared access alone would have meant immediate refusal. No development all should be allowed in this area yet application was under discussion with the planning department for months

one design submission was refused "rubbish", to quote Mr Jack Hegarty, Head of Planning. Was it a block of flats in the style of Lloyds of London? Must have been, to turn a red brick two storey building into an attractive proposition! addition, what is the impact on the current dwelling? Who's going to be interested in buying and living in a lovely, large old house, with a handkerchiefsized garden on it???

Come on Planning Committee, let's have some authority support for the spirit and principles of the Local Plan Review and the preservation of open spaces in genuine conservation areas!
