THUGS as young as six are making a disabled man's life a misery - and police are considering anti-social behaviour orders to stop their reign of terror.

Spina bifida sufferer Paul Roy, of Longfellow Green, Kidderminster, said a gang of children had spent 18 months throwing things and shouting abuse at him and his house.

He added there had been a three-month break but their abuse started again last week, when five or six of the youngsters threw things at him as he rode through Kidderminster town centre in his wheelchair.

The 36-year-old added he believed he was being persecuted because of his disability but did not understand why.

However, Kidderminster Police spokeswoman Joanne Hammond said complaints had been received from a number of residents in Longfellow Green where there was a "quality of life" issue.

And she added police were considering the possibility of applying for ASBOs but needed the assistance of the community as a whole.

Mr Roy said: "There's a group of kids who seem to take great joy in throwing things at my window - bits of mud, stones and basically anything else they can lay their hands on.

"I've had some serious verbal abuse - and I mean serious."

He added he had reported the behaviour to police several times but was unable to identify all of the bullies who were concealed by bushes in front of his house.

"I've been in talks with the police and the local street warden and everyone says they'll sort it out but nothing seems to get done - and to say I'm fed up of it really doesn't begin to explain it."

He added he felt intimidated by their behaviour but had received more abuse when he asked them to stop.

"I'm just worrying about what will happen if they throw something and it goes through the window because I'll get showered in glass," he said.

"I feel something really seriously needs to be done about it."

Mrs Hammond added: "We've had a number of reports of youths causing problems in the area and have taken a number of ASBOs out in Burcher Green. So we will look at the opportunity of doing that again in Longfellow Green."

However, she pointed out it can take a long time to collect enough evidence for an ASBO.
