Evesham 1, Worcester 4
EVESHAM produced a gallant performance against a Worcester side bidding for National League glory.
After a period of rebuilding and restructuring, the hosts began their pre-league campaign against opponents fielding several internationals.
After sustaining early pressure, Nick Lloyd, Seb Seneque and Chris Perry started to gain more possession in midfield and distribute the ball effectively for Martin Husbands and Ben Brown to create chances.
As the half wore on, Worcester became increasingly frustrated and as Evesham gained in confidence they thoroughly deserved to take the lead through Perry.
Only further fine saves prevented Evesham extending their lead.
Worcester were stunned to be behind at half-time but, the loss of the injured Perry and tiredness in the home ranks, shifted the balance of power and poor marking allowed Worcester an equaliser.
A disputed penalty award then seemed to knock the wind out of Evesham who soon conceded a third.
Evesham, though, finished strongly and only good saves prevented Mark Dufty and Seneque from scoring a second before Worcester added a fourth at the opposite end.
With Simon Chatterley returning this weekend, prospects are good for Saturday's game against Warwick at Evesham High School (1.30pm).
New players are welcome to come and meet the team or call Martin Husbands on 07900 910999.
