THE owner of a six-week old kitten is being urged to come forward after it was found sitting beside its dead mother.
The kitten's mother, a black and white cat, is believed to have died after being in collision with a car.
A passer-by found the lone grey kitten and rang up Leadon Vale Veterinary Centre, in Ledbury.
"We're hoping to find the owner or hoping that anyone who knows them will come forward," said Martin Leith, vetenary surgeon at the centre in Lower Road.
"The dead cat had no identification on it and no microchip.
"The kitten seems fine and we have been playing with it."
The accident occurred on the Hereford Road on Monday.
Anyone who thinks the kitten may belong to them should call the centre on 01531 632276.
The surgery is also offering free pet checks during PDSA National PetCheck week from Monday, September 22 to Sunday, September 28.
