THERE was little to play for at Wroxeter but Kidderminster Victoria will still wonder how they did not come away with a Birmingham League Division One win.

KVCC had to settle for a 10-point winning draw in a rain-effected game between two sides who are out of the promotion race.

A slow pitch was never going to produce a lot of runs but Wroxeter shrugged off an early blow to score 100 before the second wicket fell.

Farooq claimed opener Stovold (3) in the third over before Jones was out for 50 and then Johnson was removed for a duck.

Marc Derrick took both wickets, the first clean bowled and the second from Sean Lloyd's catch to give him 2-19 in nine overs.

With the weather playing a big role, only 18 more runs were added before Farooq took a catch off Mark Mansell's bowling to dismiss opener Tilt (53).

Jonathan Wright bowled G Home for 22 and Derrick (3-43) claimed champion jockey Richard Burton for 43 to reduce Wroxeter to 191-6.

A late fling lifted the score to 203 and KVCC were allowed 37 overs to gain the 173 runs required for a winning draw.

They had a good start with a 51-run opening partnership before Wright's departure for 34 in the 13th over.

Mansell added 17 runs and KVCC had climbed to 150 in the 31st over when Vic Lawes went for a quick 30.

With six overs left, the visitors needed 54 more runs and 25 were secured when Chris Jones was bowled by Lewis for a hard-earned 67.

Craig Wood was next out for 14 and skipper Lloyd made just two to leave KVCC on 189-7.

The overs ran out with Baylis on 4 and Derrick on 1 to leave a fair result but perhaps one that could have gone in the Kidderminster club's favour.

Fifth-placed KVCC have their last match of the season on Saturday at home to Stratford.

The best they can reach is fourth but that is impressive considering Lloyd's men were in the bottom half of the table only a few weeks back.

Wroxeter 203-6, KVCC 190-6.

Andrew Siwicki crashed an impressive 104 not out in a good winning draw with top-four side Halesowen.

The visitors' I Cutler (113) also struck a century in the rain-affected match at Chester Road which saw KVCC pick up 11 points.

Halesowen 250-6, KVCC 2nds 232-5.

Fixtures, Saturday: KVCC 1sts v Stratford (noon), Stratford v 2nds (12.30pm).
