ALCESTER councillors have asked for an in-depth damage report on the Conway Fields Skate Park after yet more vandalism.

Councillors Eric Payne and Jim Kenyon both asked how much the town council had paid out in repairs for the skate park since it opened to skaters nearly four years ago.

Council clerk Derrick Ward told councillors at a meeting last Tuesday inspectors spent about 10 hours a month examining the skate park and the same number of hours repairing it.

"Every day, there is a new problem with the skate park," he said.

"I would say now it has run into several hundreds of pounds in just repair work," he added.

The park has been a hotbed of vandalism since it opened and the town council has even enrolled the help of district leisure providers Clever Curves to help with quotes and repairs to the park.

Mr Payne said: "I want to know how much we have spent on repairing it."

And Mr Kenyon said: "I'm concerned about the ever-increasing costs from the skate park.

"It would be nice to know how much we're spending on just wear and tear and how much is vandalism."

Mr Ward saidmost of repairs undertaken werebecause of vandalism.

A report on how much has been spent should be made available at the next meeting on October 7.
