REDDITCH line-dancers The Bootleggers will be helping to bring Redditch closer to one of its twin towns at Rocklands Social Club next Friday.

The group has raised thousands of pounds for charity over the years and this time will be offering support to Redditch One World Link (ROWL) with an evening of dancing.

Redditch was twinned with Mtwara, Tanzania in 1985. ROWL is a supporter of fair trade to ensure profit returns to the people who earned it and wishes to strengthen and continue the town's links with Mtwara in the interest of friendship.

Exchange visits have taken place and Redditch has supplied Mtwara with aid, including an ambulance, fire engine, tools, medical and school equipment, text books and computers.

Donations have supported school libraries, equipped a clinic and the main outgoing annual commitment has been sponsoring school fees for 30 children from poor families.

A spokesman said: "ROWL welcomes new members and an exhibition of life in Mtwara will be on display at the social club on September 19.

"We'd like as many people as possible to join in with The Bootleggers and help them sponsor Mtwaran youngsters to gain an equal opportunity in education."
