IT has not taken the Tories long to hit the Redditch community in its pocket.
Bus fares are set to be imposed on our elderly citizens and the disabled, all of whom enjoyed free travel under previous administrations.
The rumour is each journey will cost as much as 20-30p.
Some senior citizens will now have to fork out around £10 a week extra, or £520 a year.
This, in effect, is doubling their council tax.
I have said the Conservatives would snip away at Redditch provisions in a previous letter but I never thought they would be so callous as to start their attack against one of the most vulnerable sections of our community.
It is bad enough cutting services without compounding the misery by making the elderly who are on low incomes virtual prisoners in their own homes.
