THE future of a would-be beauty spot will be discussed at a public meeting next week.

Residents are being urged to have their say on the future of the Primsland Way open space, at the Spring Meadow pub on Mulberry Tree Hill on Tuesday, September 16.

After more than 16 years of frustration and setbacks the land was finally handed over from housing developers Barratt West Midlands to the people of Droitwich Spa last month.

Campaign

Town councillor Eileen Hope (Con-South East), who has long campaigned for the reclamation of the land, is urging townsfolk to come to the meeting and voice their views.

"We have fought long and hard for this piece of land, now it is up to the people of Droitwich what to do with it."

County Councillor, Cllr Pam Davey said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for local people to have a real say in how they would like to see this site developed for the benefit of all those living on the Primsland area.

"For the long term sustainability of the site it is essential that local people have a real stake in how the site is enhanced and this consultation is the start of what we hope will be the real focus in bringing this project to fruition."

Wychavon District Council's head of planning, Jack Hegarty added that they needed the support of local residents to draw in funding.

The meeting is from noon until 2.30pm and then from 6 to 9pm.
