DEAR EDITOR -- In response to the letter entitled 'What happens to your rubbish' by Ms SA Sheppard I would like to point out that her observation of the recycle bags going into the rubbish wagon is correct, however, if she had actually looked properly she would have noted the wagon has a split compartment - one side for rubbish and the other side for recyclables.
These recyclables are taken to the MRF (material recycling facility) at Hill and Moor where they are sorted to remove the rubbish which the public so often place in these recycle bags.
Once sorted the recyclables are sent off for processing.
I hope this sheds light on what happens to your waste - something which many just take for granted.
Mr M Stass
