A £600 DRAINAGE scheme in Littleheath Lane, Lickey End, had to be temporarily shelved when it was discovered a privately-owned watercress bed behind houses would be affected and the owner refused to give up his rights to the free water.
WORK preparing the layout for the new Sanders Park off Kidderminster Road in Bromsgrove was progressing well. So far three schemes had been submitted, which would be used when tenders for the work were agreed.
ASHWELL Juggins, from Wildmoor Lane, Bromsgrove, cut a potato into seven pieces before planting them in the spring. This week he dug an amazing 46.6lbs of tubers from the plants, the largest weighing 3lbs.
A PLEA by the Regional Health Board to Bromsgrove Urban District Council for the dustbins at All Saint's and Hill Top hospitals and at Lea Colony to be emptied was refused. The authority said historically it never had and with more new homes being built, coupled with a labour shortage, it could not start doing so now.
