Alvechurch 3
Stafford 1
A BRETT Fitzpatrick brace and a gritty second-half performance helped Alvechurch chalk up a satisfying Midland Football Alliance 3-1 victory over Stafford on Saturday.
League newcomers Alvechurch took the lead on 10 minutes when Fitzpatrick got on the end of a Gary Choi cross to sweep the ball home.
Church, though, soon lost the initiative and it came as no surprise when Stafford equalised 10 minutes before half-time.
But a more positive Church appeared in the second half, and it took just two minutes for Fitzpatrick to fire home his second after a defensive-splitting ball from midfielder Ken Fergie.
Keith Rostill made sure there was no way back for the visitors when he slotted home Church's third on 80 minutes to make sure of all three points which lifted Church to seventh in the table.
